I recently had a similar epiphany with another directors work but, judging by the way everyone here has ripped you down to size for your pretty innocent statement that you have found a director with a similar vision of movie making as your own.... well I think I'll just stay stummm.

Of course everyone else here are all 100% unique and find it difficult to relate to any directors work. Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick here... maybe it's that everyone else here are a bunch of untalented monkeys who find it amusing that anyone should look at Kubricks films and say... `I'd like to do that`.

As for me? well my lips are firmly sealed... I don't go in for Kubrick much anyway.

If people can't relate to what LA mind said then I question whether they have the right kind of mind for filmmaking.

It seems that too many people around here are too concerned with technical excellance and being seen to know all the filmmaking terms.

I was watching the Shining and I noticed in the opening scene of the mountains, the shadow of the helecopter in the shot! WTF! If he is such a perfectionist, why would he let that happen? Did he not notice it? Was there a budget problem which he was unable to re-shoot? Was there an incredibly deep meaning behind it which nobody could possibly understand execpt the great master himself?

From what I understand, when Kubrick saw the Helicopter footage He felt it wouldn't be a problem as very few would notice it whne it was projected on the big screen.

That helicoter shadow made it look so shitty. Although The SHining is still my favorate Kubrick film.

Yeah that helicopter shadow ruined the whole film for me. I think we should call all copies of the film back to a big warehouse and flame the lot.... just to make sure they no longer slur Kubricks name.
